Wind Generator

The wind generator is quickly becoming a popular way to create free electricity. These devices utilize the power of the wind to spin a generator that produces usable power for homes and businesses. They are relatively simple devices that can be used anywhere that has a steady wind.

The horizontal axis wind generator is probably the most commonly recognized. These generators are most often placed on top of towers that can be several hundred feet tall in order to take advantage of the higher wind speeds at that elevation. These are the generators that are commonly used in large-scale wind farms.

The vertical axis wind generator is another option. These generators do not require the tall towers of the horizontal varieties, but because they only use the slower winds near the ground, they are not as effective. However, because of their smaller size, they are commonly used for residential applications.
