Going Green
Millions of people around the world are “going green” in order to minimize their impact on the global environment. The conservation movement has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few decades as more and more data is collected about how humans are causing a loss of biodiversity, as well as generating pollution that is causing climate change around the world. Preserving a healthy environment is essential to creating a livable planet for future generations.
Going green doesn’t mean going without. Many of the conveniences we enjoy can be easily replaced by a more earth-friendly alternative. Electricity, for example, doesn’t have to come from the burning of fossil fuels, and instead can be easily generated through solar or wind power. Even random household projects can be earth friendly. When decorating your backyard, install solar fountains instead of electric ones.
Recycling is also a large part of “going green”. The vast majority of the Earth’s natural resources are finite in their availability, and as such recycling is becoming more and more important to creating sustainability. Many cities around the world have created recycling programs that are proving to be effective.
