Environmental Protection
Environmental protection is essential for the future of this country, as well as for the rest of the planet. Theodore Roosevelt once said that “The conservation of natural resources is the fundamental problem. Unless we solve that problem, it will avail us little to solve all others”.
Expanding population, dwindling natural resources and the overall health of life on this planet are just a few of the reasons that environmental protection is so vital. The destruction of even one seemingly insignificant part of an ecosystem can have catastrophic results for the surrounding biodiversity. Therefore, if we are to maintain as healthy an environment as possible for future generations, it is imperative that we do everything we can to protect it.
Governments throughout the world, motivated by a global conservation movement, have started implementing many programs aimed at environmental protection. In 1970, the United States Environmental Protection Agency was started in an effort to help reduce the amount of ecological damage that was being done by Americans. The European Union, as well as many other governing bodies around the world, has introduced a number of policies directed at maintaining a healthy, planet-wide ecology.
