Environmental Pollution
Environmental pollution is arguably one of the greatest threats to the human population, and the planet as a whole. As more and more scientific data is collected, it is becoming clear that humans are the primary cause of climate change and the destruction of the biodiversity around the world. It is therefore our responsibility to find ways to combat these detrimental practices for the sake of future generations.
Humans have been affecting their surroundings for hundreds of thousands of years, but over the last century levels of environmental pollution have increased exponentially. The industrial age has done more damage to the ecology of this planet than any other time in history. Unfortunately, the effects of this damage are just becoming apparent.
Environmental pollution can be seen in many forms. The big three, air pollution and water and soil contamination, are the most commonly cited forms, but there are others as well. The nuclear age has brought about radioactive contamination, and light, noise and thermal pollution are also becoming wide-spread problems as well.
